What better way to advertise than by showing people what you fix? Displaying old parts that you've replaced is a common practice here and we occasionally see things like this muffler tree sprouting out of businesses. A few motorcycle repair places just hang an old motorcycle frame above their store front, creating an instant, telling, and very straightforward sign.
